Like oh my god! A post! So, hi! you haven't heard from me in a while, atleast not here on lj!
Well, what's new! For those of you who don't follow Twitter, I'm fairly active on twitter - @cxi
And recently (this past tuesday) created a new website where I feature people on Twitter!
It has two domains at the moment and I'm still sorting out which will be permanent and which gets repurposed, but in either case It's called Who is ....on Twitter!
It's pretty cool, I like the layout and format I created for it, and I'd love any constructive feedback or feedback in general on it, especially those of you on twitter who I plan to feature (you know who you are ;))
Otherwise, hello, and etc :)

Competition is the father of invention
With necessity being the mother of invention, his father indeed was competition. Speaking of competitions, I happen to be in one for this Friday, April 25th, 2008! Within toastmasters, I’ve recently been through a number of competitions. Starting at the club level where competition was fierce and then moving on to the area level with a similar stiff rivalry, only to be brought to triumph at the Division level against 5 other excellent and eloquent speakers of their kind. I battled at the Division level with the best of the SW Divisions clubs, only to see success shine through my eyes as I wowed not only the judges but the audience alike. And later this week it will come to its final battle for me at the District 30 (Northwest Chicagoland) to go up against the best of all of the Districts alike. The subject I’ll be speaking upon? Is unknown to me. Only to be revealed to me in the seconds before I am to speak upon it. This matter of extemporaneous speaking is called “Table Topics”, and it is an area in which I enjoy as I’m given the whole of a few seconds to prepare; worst case if I do not do well, the excuse commonly referenced is “I only had a few seconds to think about it”, however if I do indeed do well as I have in the past the reinforcement of my own training and educational I’ve invested in myself can be said “I only had a few seconds to think about it!” Yes, my downfall is also my uprising! All those years of having little time to prepare for something and having to act upon it certainly are doing their justice to pay off. However, it is not all easy-street, as “Table Topics”, revered as one of the hardest things to do in Toastmasters (and often in life as others have told me) does take a fair bit of preparation; and is something I’m constantly tuning and honing to try to improve it to be even better. I’ll further get to see how well my preparation has taken me when it comes down to the wire and I’m up against the best of the best in the Chicagoland this Friday at 7PM in Tinley Park, but I will do my best and bring out my best. Reportedly, the challenges in this (for me in particular) should the subject be something I have no interest in, or very little knowledge I am doomed to mediocrity and will not be at my best; furthering the reasons why educating yourself in handling these types of situation is wholly beneficial and will help you infinitely down the road. I encourage anyone to come on down and investigate this phenomenon of people talking on a subject they’re not aware of, seconds before hand with whatever level of mastery that can surmise; to discuss and relate no less than 60 seconds, and no more than 2 minutes and thirty. The future is here, and my journey to the next (and last available in this competition) trophy is only days away! Anyone interested in seeing me compete, or in this general Toastmasters event (Open to the public) I encourage you to come on down to the Spring Conference! It will be held at the Holiday Inn Select & Convention Center, Tinley Park, IL The Table Topics contest will be Friday Night, (Apr 25th) at 7:00PM You can find out more information at the District 30 Toastmasters site www.toastofchicago.org Reposted from http://www.pkguild.com/?p=64

What kind of music do your kids listen to? So, for those of you who are parents - I ask this question! Anyone with children pretty much over 3 years old (but not yet 12 years old or anything)
What kind of music do they listen to? what do they choose or want to listen to, etc!
Let me know, I want to kind of compare it against alexander, who has.. perhaps different musical interests? :)

Furnace is installed! Okay - 6 hours later, and the furnace is installed! During that time I read part of a book on my kindle.... did some other things, moved laundry... this that and the other, started to get cold so I put a sweater on... read some more on my Kindle.. and then in the end, vacuumed stuff up!
So, I have a heater which presumably will not fail and have faults like my other ancient one.
One more notch in the "Well, the resale should be better, there is a new furnace" and the like :)

Sickness and Furnaces Hi, I'm still sick!
Emily took me the doctor today, because I certainly am not capable of taking myself to the doctor! (no seriously, I don't tend to go to the doctor alone when I'm sick, and considering I've been to the doctor like, 3 times in the time I've been alive... it's not too often to set this sort of precedent). They did an X-Ray for my rib-pain, which it likely is bruised or something similar problems on my ribs, as a result of Judo and likely further complicated by coughing since I've been sick on Wednesday.
Oh, and I'm still sick! After coming home, I crashed for houuuuuuurs! it's good to get some sleep! (got home from the doctors around 11am).
So, our furnace has been acting up. In the ways that a 12+ year old furnace which I instituted a 'fix' of hitting the blower motor with a hammer for the past 2-3 years can be effectively 'acting up' or 'needing fixing' as it were.
A replacement motor would come out to about $600 alone just for parts, and the Gas thingier would be another 500 or so, bringing me easily into the 1200-1500 range for two parts replacements on an out of warranty unit.
Though a brand new one (parts+labor included) runs starting at $2500. So, I opt'd for a 2-phase style, running me just a bit over $2900 - Hooray.
The installers got here at 9 (PM) for the installation. They completely got it removed a short bit ago (its almost 11 now!) and are working on the portion of the installation. So, we've had no heat for the past 2 hours... hopefully it all gets sorted soon, so we gets us some heat in here!
Otherwise, hooray for spending a crap load of money today, while on the same gesture, not being able to work (sucks). I cannot wait to return back to work on Monday, getting back into the swing of doing things, responding to emails, drawing pretty pictures of storage loop layouts, and all the other joys of whatever it is that I do!

Cert update?! Well, passed the test on Wednesday evening, 100%. Was an odd testing center, it is a 'full time test center', so different than I am normally used to. They had a full-time proctor, and a whole series of protocol, including "Leave your ID on the table facing up at all times during testing" and a series of things like that. The proctor gave me the business for showing up 2 hours early, however my seat WAS open.
If my seat wasn't open, I was more than happy to sit and wait... so I don't see why shes giving me smack, my commute is normally 2 hours... so showing up early (super early) should far exceed late or super late! :)
Need to semi-prepare for actually difficult exams which are tomorrow. Two tests, one after the other tomorrow, 9 and noon.
Here's to Exchange... ! the hard tests!

Oh no! A Test! So, I have a test tomorrow! 070-649. Upgrade exam for 2003 to 2008. It is the combination exam of what would normally be 3 individual tests. I imagine I'll do well, as I'm one of the few who understands 2008, and also having extreme depth in 2003.
But nonetheless, I did study to an extent. I feel prepared enough. Do I feel prepared for the new exams on Friday? err.. not so much.
But I'll study for them after I study for this one. Friday has 2 exchange exams, one after the other. I'd "Like" to study for them, but I won't put a lot of weight or need in the studying for them, after all, they ARE Exchange, and I've studied for about 1 total Exchange exam in the past 8 Exchange tests I've taken.
In all, it should be easy-peezey, but we'll see!

WTF!? What kind of D&D Character AM I?! See, the odd thing here is - I AM actually NG, and have been for a long time ever since I changed over from TN (Which I was for the loooooooongest time!) However, in this quiz, I am LITERALLY one question away from being NG. It was a single balance question which took it from NG to LG... DoH! I'm not that lawful! seriously! I'm not arguing with anything else it has to say, except for Lawful vs Neutral, grin.
I Am A: Lawful Good Human Sorcerer (5th Level)
Ability Scores:
Strength-13
Dexterity-19
Constitution-15
Intelligence-18
Wisdom-18
Charisma-19
Alignment: Lawful Good A lawful good character acts as a good person is expected or required to act. He combines a commitment to oppose evil with the discipline to fight relentlessly. He tells the truth, keeps his word, helps those in need, and speaks out against injustice. A lawful good character hates to see the guilty go unpunished. Lawful good is the best alignment you can be because it combines honor and compassion. However, lawful good can be a dangerous alignment because it restricts freedom and criminalizes self-interest.
Race: Humans are the most adaptable of the common races. Short generations and a penchant for migration and conquest have made them physically diverse as well. Humans are often unorthodox in their dress, sporting unusual hairstyles, fanciful clothes, tattoos, and the like.
Class: Sorcerers are arcane spellcasters who manipulate magic energy with imagination and talent rather than studious discipline. They have no books, no mentors, no theories just raw power that they direct at will. Sorcerers know fewer spells than wizards do and acquire them more slowly, but they can cast individual spells more often and have no need to prepare their incantations ahead of time. Also unlike wizards, sorcerers cannot specialize in a school of magic. Since sorcerers gain their powers without undergoing the years of rigorous study that wizards go through, they have more time to learn fighting skills and are proficient with simple weapons. Charisma is very important for sorcerers; the higher their value in this ability, the higher the spell level they can cast.

oh my god becky! So, in some other news, late news at that!
I recently attended my first live hockey game! We went to a Blackhawks game for work, so it was not only my first hockey game (live, or on TV), it was also my first hawks game (seeing them lose to the Calgary Flames) and also, it was my first time in a Club Box at that stadium!
It was a nice box, catered, buffet, food, drink, TV in room for instant replays and all the goodness! So in all, good times!
I'm also into my second college class, at UoP! First class I got an A.. second class, likely to get an A as well.
I'll be locked in to driving up to Lincolnshire for another 2 months likely again, DoH!
And... other stuff!
Well, off to take care of some things before preparing for my speech tonight!

What a Thanksgiving! Wow, I'm tired. And what indeed a spectacular Thanksgiving!
It all started when Church bells went off this morning at 5:45AM. Yep, you know it! well, no. Aurora on my mbp is normally scheduled to wake me up around 6:45 to get me up for work, however this was a special morning, and mind you I had only gone to sleep about 2-3 hours prior, it was time to get up. After sleeping in a BIT extra longer, I was awake, I had woken Emily up (and succeeded in not waking up Chris) and Alexander was not woken by the church bells either, so that was a success! So I showered, and dressed in what would be considered layers. I haven't dressed in layers in longer than I can remember. 2 pairs of socks, covering my feet in my fuzzy crocs. 2 pairs of pants (Gym pants under, nice pants over). An undershirt, a button down shirt, a sweater, covered by a zipper-down coat, followed up by a zipper down jacket.
Oh, and then I topped it off with an Owlie hat, and a pair of thick work gloves.
I'm set for the weather!
WTF!?! It's 6:30AM on Thanksgivings day, what the hell am I getting dressed up so much?
So, off Emily and I went, driving downtown to the Chicago Hosteling international! Hmm.... That was our meeting place, as we were announcers in the Chicago Thanksgivings Day Parade (McDonalds Thanksgivings Day Parade). To tell you the truth, I don't really recall if I've ever gone to our parade before, certainly not playing a vocal and focal role of the event!
After a short bit of collecting materials (Red jackets to wear over our clothes, to indicate us as Volunteers) and a Sash which read "TOASTMASTERS" across it, we were set with Pocket Warmers and assigned to our teams to go ready ourselves on the Parade route!
We were at Station #1 - State and Jackson. First stop on the Parade route. We had a wonderful active audience of people when we did get our Microphones online and were ready to start announcing the floats and other festivities as they rolled down the street. There were 4 Teams of dual-pair announcers, we were Team #3, so we had a bit of time to prepare, "Work the crowd" and whathaveyou before we were up on the stand, and being the voices of Chicagoans to give their ears an idea of what was coming down the parade line!
Due to a technical difficulty of one of the mics being out, we were limited to sharing a single microphone, which caused our team banter to suffer, and as a result my normal lively quitepossiblyinsane self from being exhibited through the mic; however Emily was able to prosper under the circumstances, and quite definitely was the best presenter at our particular portion of the Parade stations. Hands down, I was... I was good enough, given the situation of having thousands of people looking to you for information, but I was not the hotbed of information and exuberance that I usually am, so I am glad that Emily was able to come through, not only for herself, but also for the Chicagoans who were able to be provided the information, banter, wit and content that she was so eloquently able to provide.
The other volunteers in our particular station did well, but did not prosper quite so strongly as Emily was able to! Props to Emily! Me, I was able to prosper as I often do, and facilitated our situation in order to ensure the information was timely and passing, additional content which was relevant could be presented, and I did address the crowd a number of times and occasions, but not as my normal self as you might encounter when I'm evangelizing something. We were able to further do great justice to our group when it came to handing out cards, engaging the crowd and getting their involvement and response. In all, it was excellent good times!
After heading back to the Hosteling building following our particular speaking engagement (~20mins on the stand), we collected our giftbag, and headed on home to prepare things for Thanksgiving!
Chris had already gotten the food which needed to be in the oven taken care of, and cleaned up the house and was getting things ready for when Emily's parents and Emily's Brother arrived. I took a bit of opportunity to take a nap!
Dinner went off well, we had our Vegan meal, everyone else had their turkey and ham, and various other non-vegan goodies, and then some Pinata excitement, including some watching "Billy Madison", as thats one of the less crazy things we had available to watch!
I fell asleep again (waking up to come upstairs to lay down to go to sleep again, and decided to post this! (Hi Änna!)
So, in all, a very active and busy Thanksgiving! I need to help my "Team" in my University of Phoenix class, sometime this weekend, so not only can they understand how to make better powerpoint presentations, but also so my grade 'doesn't suffer', not that it can suffer too much, as I've only lost 1 point so far in the class (A point I firmly standby should not have been lost!)
In a few weeks, I'll be in the WTTW/PBS Phone Drive, so you can look for me there! I'll find out the details and post those eventually!
So, hoorah, hooray, happy thanksgivings and whossawhatsit!

A Pact! As part of a pact with youngheartsfail I will try to update my journal a bit more often! :) With that particular said, did a great presentation this past week at the CWUG on Studying, Preparation and Test taking techniques. I rambled on for a half an hour with the slides I had prepared and presented, and now I simply need to take the slides and actually upload them to make them available for download on pkguild :)
Lets see, in others news, I uploaded Photos of my skydiving to my facebook, I'm a ninja now... I completed my CC with Toastmasters. I'm a trained assassin, and.. something!
So, there you go! Oh, and I may be taking part in the Thanksgiving Day Parade in Chicago in a few days ,and possibly on WTTW for the Phone Drive in 2 weeks.!
Wow, I'm busy or something?!

Writer's Block: Back To School
So, sadly.. I cannot remember any teachers names, nor the names of most of the students. I do recall one single teacher, (which you'll see why for obvious reasons), who was my Physics teacher Freshman year. His name was "Mr Dickman". And thus why it helps to remember, both it being physics, and also it being a name with 'dick' in it, as it were.
Otherwise, I honestly have no idea of anyone elses name.

Oh, the day of activities! So, a day or so ago, I ordered a bag from Amazon! This very bag, a guy at my work has, and I also saw it previously mentioned in nekosensei's journal. So I bit the proverbial bullet as it were, ordered it, and in less than 28 hours, it arrived!
It seems like a fairly decent roller bag and as soon as I move into it, I'm sure it will all be good times! Finally the ability to put stuff into my bag!
In other news, on Monday, I picked this TV up at frys, to have one. It has nice quality, display and layout and the price just couldn't be beat (Or atleast not today)
Took the car in to have it taken care of before a long trip tomorrow. Was given a 2007 Prius as a loaner (Red), which operated as expected... Exactly as the 06, and potentially the 08 will operate.
Alexander and I went to the Dentist, which was filled with good times, before stopping by the office to visit and then to pick up my car from the dealer.
Now I need to find a good way to take care of my newly introduced lower back problems and I'll be set!

I missed my chance! So, while everyone was posting their really cool lightning and storm posts.. I was busy being in the storm, and didn't think to post mine!
I had a great view of one of the storms coming in, while in the office. To the right, darkness and rolling clouds... You could see it for quite some distance, and saw it rolling up. You could even see the rain falling in the distance.
To the left. Clear skies with some clouds, and very blue, no darkness to be found.
A perfect level of transition on both sides.. You could see the direct center of it, where it was going to enter into darkness, was quite serene, beautiful and destructive. :)
Shortly... wow, here comes the storm! bam! the windows get hit with some water, flying down in sheets. With my head resting against the window, I could feel a kind of billowy "the building moving" effect, was cool on this 13th floor of the building.
Then, taking a step back, the windows start to billow themselves, noticeably and all across the building, and then it hit.
Alarms went off "Please evacuate from the windows to the center of the building"
The windows did not stop rocking, so it was time to roll! we grab our laptops and to the center of the building we go. Some of us hung out in the freight elevator while we waited for the stupid alarm to shut off, while we continued to do work, as others milled about.
As it came to an end, a massive 18 wheeler got knocked on its side, blocking 53/290 going southbound, JUST north of where I'd get on. End result? no traffic going southbound, or at least not the type of traffic you'd expect at 4pm on a thursday.

Our base is under attack. Well, I do not know about you, but last week I saw the Harry Potter movie (alone while in NC) And I read the book this weekend, and to tell you the truth.
The movie looked kind of cool, but was otherwise less than stellar. And the book left much to be desired, but hey, when you're rich and you said you'd "finish" things, you do what you have to do, right?!

I'm sick, that's not fun! So, Thursday, I woke up super-dehydrated feeling. Hey, that's not good. So bad that, I was unable to attend the VMware Symposium. So, bad times. I spent much of the next 24 hours in the bathroom, equally bad times.
Come Friday morning, not feeling well, haven't had anything to eat, could barely drink anything at all, no apetite, also bad times. As a result, no work, no conf calls, I couldn't even turn on my computer because the sound and light were too unbearable! Had to cancel my friday night work, another period of bad times.
Around 10pm Friday night, emily took me to the ER, where after not very long of a wait, I was attached to an IV where they started processing fluids into my system. My fever and headache started to subside a bit, I could even eat a tiny little bit, so that was good.
Here it is Sunday evening, I'm able to drink more water (woohoo!) and well, my appetite isn't exactly what it used to be yet, but it's getting there. I'm able to use my computer a bit, so my sensitivity isn't so bad (hoorah!) but I'm still not over the hump, and I still put myself in the 40-60% space, because well, I'm just not there yet.
So, hopefully, come Monday I should be able to return to work, doing whatever random stuff it is I do (in this case, a Fax deployment on Monday) and then back on Wednesday for my other stuff.
Hopefully my focus will be a bit stronger, so I'll be able to prepare, prepare for, and write my audition speech for the Windy City Professional Toastmasters next Sunday (10th).
So, that is my current state of affairs... hot, hungry, thirsty and sick!

well, I don't "have" it yet, but I bought it, and it should be delivered next week.
Seriously.. looking for a bed? I have the hookup! Great prices and also a great guy, who runs the place, owns the place and sells as well. When times are down there, he plays EQII and various other online games, and also watches the good shows we all watch.. goodtimes! :)
So, let me know if you're interested in bedgoodness and you'll get the hookup at Peppers Bedroom City in Crestwood!

Or that old chestnut.. how I broke my arm! Oh that insanity..
I hate it when I get emails which claim I'm trying to transfer one of my domains, when I'm not trying to transfer my domain. Goodtimes.
Considering modding the Prius soon now.. going to enable the "Rear camera anytime" mod, and the "Actually allow me to use the fricking touchscreen when exceeding 4MPH" mod. - Both activated in the same manner.
Beyond that, I'll have to look into installing a frontal IR-Camera so I can get some night-vision as it were.. and who knows what else..
Alexander and I have been watching a lot of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, so we're getting our shake on, and can do a decent level of recitation of stuffs. ;)
Oh and the damn Library claims I returned some books damaged, whereas of the hundreds of books I check out from the library and read each month, I've never once damaged a damn book, let alone damage it in the fashion in which it was when I checked it out. (feh). Getting in touch with "Cynthia" from the Library is difficult. The only bitch of this is, they've "suspended" my ability to check out new books or put books on hold, meaning I need to enter in Alexander, chris's or emilys code and check out books as them.. Damn library bastards!
Speaking of which Matt.. that one book you mentioned.. has 17 holds at my library!
Oh, and I've recently taken up the undertaking of deciphering windows memory dumps, so that's good times. :)

Well, if I hadn't mentioned yet.. our dog Nacho had to be put to sleep last week (September 9th). He was in serious pain (so much so that he didn't even express any sign of pain or anything) he had stopped eating, wasn't drinking, his glucose was off the charts, lots of bad stuff. It was extremely sad, we were all devastated (including our other dog Ginger). Alexander was especially devastated, but hes come to terms with it since. Such a terrible thing, I was there with him until he closed his eyes...
Emily and chris returned from their retailers convention in baltimore, so lots of good times there. Alexander and I ran the Yoga Studio and shops while they were gone (Except for on the day of nacho and the day after.. we didn't open the shop those days at all).
Alexander and I went to ferriswheel goodness and various stuff at Navy Pier land.
Oh, and I've been on vacation since September 1st, with my return to work tomorrow (on the 18th) aww yea, goodtimes of being off for 17 days, eh!?:)
This past thursday on my birthday we had wondrous festivities of going to Karyn's Cooked for some raw (cooked) vegan goodness.. excellent pizza was had by all! Then after that, went to see a coworkers girlfriend at Second City, where they had a musical sketch show.
http://www.chicagoimprov.org/forum/calendar.php?do=getinfo&day=2006-9-7&e=174&c=1
With the last show this coming thursday (21st).
Did various other things and whatnot.. oh and at Bay Furnitures final-last day, went and got some couches, normally 3200, got them down to $950, so now we have some couches in the living room, and as a result, completely restrucuted the living area (Which was barren prior to this point) So that's cool.
Lots of wondrous plans for work as usual, fun work, OT and all the goodness which comes about from work. This week, have the MMCUG and the CWUG for anyone interested in attending either.
Oh, and yesterday/today..
Emily, Alexander and I went to a corn maze yesterday (Saturday), and today we went with emilys brother, his girlfriend and various other family/friends from their side off to apple picking in DeKalb.
So in all, fun and wonder, with sidebars of merriment!
A week from now, I'll also be at my 10 Year anniversary at my workplace, woot woot.
Well, I think that is enough for now.

New hair, this and perhaps some other things! So, an update as of late.. it's been awhile I guess!
I've started logging into IRC Efnet #Exchange to offer up Exchange assistance and help, since I know 1 or 2 things about Exchange. I've been doing it for a month or so, and it is surprising how many stupid things come up.
I recently dyed my hair to Black! I've never had black hair before.. and now I do! It is as anticlimactic as it sounds!
Work has been busy and such as always, but that brings me to what I almost forgot... I'm on vacation until the 18th. Good-times of the 2nd through the 18th for vacationtime. I do plan on working while I am on vacation so I can take care of my customers who I'd otherwise never be able to get around to working with. But still, good-times.
Alexander and I will be running the shop for a week starting later this week, so during my vacation week, I'll be working retail! and Alexander will be the Proprietor :)
I'm absolutely loving my recent discovery of the Research Icon in IE (I'm not sure what installed it) which does lookups against various dictionaries and encyclopedias. It is teh rock.
I recently re-discovered Groove again, and it's totally rocking (Microsoft Office Groove 2007 (Beta2)). Good times for mad online/offline collaboration!
I have a birthday this month, and I also have my 10 year anniversary at work this month as well. Who knows if I can get a raise or something for the value and benefit I bring to the organization. And respectively, to possibly go to the Vista TAP/PV Summit in Redmond Building 43 in October.
Had the front/back yards done by professionals as the weed growth had gone 'out of control' or enough to be cited by the city and almost be fined. So, the $1k it roughly cost for the work was interesting, but unleashed an ant infestation! Which I've scheduled to be contacted by Exterminators to possibly handle.
Gave eating Raw a try for a bit there, which I could do, if I had enough access to fresh fruits and vegetables on a regular basis. As part of said experimentation gave "Karyn's Cooked" a try, and they have hands down, some of the best pizza to ever be eaten.
Haven't updated pkguild.com in any level of frequency lately, though I really want to somehow find the time to do the update about Groove, because it totally does rock!
I've been playing Tennis as of late as well, and that's been coming along. My game has been fluctuating so far as my skill level goes and I have some demo-racquets which are hardcore anticlimactic to what I was expecting! ;)
Toby has me wanting to get some tablets as well, so that'll be interesting should I indeed get one (or more..)
Recently had 3 people leave our work place, to pursue other opportunities. One in particular was a good guy, actually good at what he does, provides value in the workplace, and helpful to other people working on issues. He'll be missed (in the workplace) but we'll stay in touch ofcourse, he fits into the mesh of the extended IT Workplace which is not limited to working in the same company.
I'm sure there is more to say, but these are just some random highlights over the past month or two. One thing to note is, I am ofcourse leader in OT for the year, add that to I'm already in the top10 of all time for my OT for this year, and may end up being in the top 3-4 eventually (I'm already #1, #6 and currently #7) So soon I may end up #1, #2 or #3 and perhaps pushing my #6 to #7 ;)
Well, back to the whatever I do or some such!

Both my arms hurt
Since yesterday, my mad tennis has brought about additional pain in both of my hands, wrists and various other components of them. I may have sprained a foot/ankle and other components of my right foot.
Otherwise, I'm doin great!

Lately Well, some things as of late..
In the past several months, I've finished off another slew of MCSE tests, where I actually put MCSE in my credentials, or specifically "MCSE*" because I have every form, and I'd rather not tread over the details.
I'm considering pursuing the MCT so I can do some mad training (preferably for free, or as free as possible)
I've taken up playing tennis after a 20 year hiatus (I'm like doctor who! woo mad long hiatus!) I have played with one girl from Craigslist who was apparently the shiznit in highschool, she whooped my havent-played-in-20-years-ass. I play with Brian a network admin (And fellow CWUG'er), and this other woman from Craigslist who doesn't promote her madskills, but holds up fairly well (and I did win a bit against her, so it was all good and all in great fun)
A note, Brian is my most consistent player, with a generally standing weekly tennis engagement (or more) depending on either of our schedules (usually mine being the more difficult).
I'm still in pondering mode to go and take every CLEP exam offered to make it easier to get some paper degree from some random school, where I'd be all like "So, like all these exams entitle me to a degree, and all I need to do is what.. take 12 credit hours of soup management or something?!"
Work is as work is.. enjoyable, easy, and been dealing with a lot more ignorance and stupidity from all sides lately.
I ran out of questions (to a point) while at TechEd, talking with the DPM, ISA, Exchange and other folks. Ofcourse the one question still outstanding in my mind is "What do you mean, NOBODY can show me Windows Storage Server?!". Seriously, for it being OEM'd, and all these OEM's wanting to sell it, it's hard for me to even suggest if noone can SHOW it to me!
The car is doing quite well, still trying to beat out my largest tank of 536mi, but it goes well in either event. - Definitely a worthy investment.
The Dyson is also doing well, by far one of my best investments as well.
I have an invite code to the Vista Beta which expires at the end of the month if it is not used (I'm already in the RDP and TAP for Vista, so its useless for me) Anyone interested?
Otherwise, things go well as always.

Back from Boston Much done there, much learned (atleast specific questions answered, and otherwise a little bit learned).
Great time, saw Train in their special concert for us, though food was severely lacking since my last few TechEd's, but atleast content wasn't severely lacking.

People are fucking dumb. People who say they don't take the Internet serious are akin to those who say don't believe everything you see on TV, oh and books? Definitely don't even bother reading books, because you might have to use some kind of thought outside of your status quo lifestyle to bring about utterances of ideas more than just 'faith' in what you assume to be correct.
Yea, people are dumb, and people who feel that not taking one medium of communication more or less seriously than another are just outright fucking stupid. "Talking to someone on the internet is not real". Yep, and the same goes for talking on the phone. Or not.
While this has been tread with some sarcasm, there is great discomfort in knowing that many are just outright completely ignorant of life and everything within in it. Treating things like, life, music and communication as mere "fads".
Unlike this sad world (Or atleast our US interpretation) which seem to have some kind of 'faith' trust in the BushGod and his Cheney followers (Well, the Cheney leader and his Bush followers, grin), these things will not all just 'drift' away.
Ignoring the truth and then trying to shift reality to make the lies fit the puzzle is a manipulative house of cards. It will collapse and when it does, those affected will blame everyone but themselves.
The time has come to accept responsibility for our actions, fess up, move on and improve; We don't need a martyr for our own stupidity... We already have far too many for that.

Doctors Visit in Post. Well, I visited the doctor.. Registration went through fine.
The nurse who ddi the normal routine blood pressure, etc was nice.
The doctor was just great, listened, had insight.. did an investigative look into me as a patient and a person, and well, the end result.
I am healthy. Very healthy. I did have them do some blood tests for general bloodwork and stuff, so waiting on those results, but I apparently very healthy, hoorah!

Doctors Visit I am going to visit the doctor today! Maybe this internist will become my GP or somesuch as I've not had one since a young child.
The last time I really in any manner went to a doctor for their professional opinion (I've been in the past, but never for their opinion only for 'confirmation' of facts I already knew).
When I was either 10 or 11, I visited the doctor.. some child-doctor for Ulcers. I had stress induced ulcers, though they were going the typical route of blaming it elsewhere.. and rather than trying to address the situation? They instead opted for treating the the symptom as opposed to the cause.
I took their 'ulcer' medication one or two times, which made me sick and not feel very well, so I decided, eh, fuck that time to just handle it myself. And looking back at the time (and now, and not shortly after I had the situation) I determined it was stress induced ulcers.
Though subconsciously, and hell very consciously I was turned off from doctors as most of them were idiots who treated the result and not the cause. Whereas it may not even be so important to treat the cause so much, but utter ignorance and prescribing senseless medication to a 10 year old without foundation is just idiocy.
I do my best in the world of IT and architecture also to not treat the symptom and preferably to proactively prevent the situation from ever occuring (though I'm fighting one battle where I know a symptom solution, still trying to find the cause! but that is neither here nor there! :))
I know I am not wrong to not want people who have no fucking right to be treating people to be adminstering whatever they want, which I guess is the sole reason I see doctors as 'advisors' and not an authority. I had visited an ENT a month or two ago, I posed a situation (which was my own) and he opt'd to prescribe medication, totally disregarding the situation and again - trying to treat a symptom as opposed to the cause and its ultimate result.
So I enter this situation of the doctor visit with a fresh head, an open mind and hoping this doctor does not turn out to be a pretentious overbearing condescending idiot who thinks just because he spent some time in school he actually has any clue what he is doing.

Take part in the BBC Climate Change Experiment! If you've ever done SETI, or the Anthrax/Cancer/Protein Folding projects. you should give this a try.
http://bbc.cpdn.org/index.php
This is where they're taking what would years to model environmental conditions.. and hopefully we can bang out the results a tad quicker. May as well try out the fun of predictive modeling averages for our environmental climate!

Ignorance is absolute. Well, I've seen this occur, in the past and even in the recent.. and it is absolute ignorance! But this may not be what you think, oh it is a very special thing.
How it works is this.
Someone will use a medium, say the Internet for example. They'll meet someone and then come to the realization, "Wow, I do not need to use that anymore" and thus they do not. They disconnect themselves from anyone from said "Internet", cut all their ties except for the few they drew close to them, and leave it as if it is an unneeded resource. People treat it as if it were some kind of disease that "Served its purpose" and is no longer needed. Honestly, that is just so totally wrong.
I've had this happen with close friends, male and female, from the Internet, BBS's, chatlines I'd used for years. The actions of such are akin to having met someone over the phone and now you never need to use a phone again, and disconnect yourself from everyone or anyone you'd ever talked to over the phone. Sorry sunshine, but it doesn't work that way!
Emotionally and physically disconnecting yourself from people for fear of one thing or another is neither healthy nor progressive, it's actually rather indicative of enforced stagnation, and upon that. I saw wake up and smell the ignorance. It is time to see past the petty ways of old and move forward in evolution, not descending deep into the cave never to see light again simply because you warrior found woman.

Technological informational blog
Since I rarely have anything work related or even technologically related here on my LJ, I've created a blog where I'll track such things. Some of the crazy things I must do at work, and general things I encounter on a regular basis in my work, reading, watching, thinking, etc.
So, the pkguild has been ofificially repurposed as a blog of stuff. So come on down in the future, and in the present for whatever may happen to be there and whatnot. :) Your patronage is always appreciated.

The good comes with the bad. So I had a post about my good qualities which some of you certainly responded.
Now I'm wondering this - And please be as honest as possible.
Please list what you would consider my bad qualities.
